Commencement 2012
Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management celebrated Commencement Day ceremonies for the 245 members of its Class of 2012 on Friday, May 11, 2012. Gathered on Magnolia Lawn, 179 received their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree; 40 earned a Master of Finance (MSF) degree; and 26 were awarded a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree. Several students from the Master of Management in Health Care (MMHC) and the Executive MBA (EMBA) programs who graduated in 2011 also participated in the ceremony.»Read more, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Commencement day

Eight classes from Owen held reunion gatherings in Nashville during Owen Alumni Weekend, April 20-21. This year's second annual Owen Circle Celebration Dinner honored Steve Buchanan (BS '80, MBA '85), Heiki Miki (MBA '96), Jim Sohr (BE '86, MBA '90) and Peter Veruki, Owen's Director of Corporate Relations. Executive MBA Awards Non-Profit Scholarship
Karin Weaver, who created and runs a national program bringing children’s playrooms to homeless shelters, was awarded full tuition to Vanderbilt’s Executive MBA program. The annual scholarship program selects winners in partnership with Nashville’s Center for Non-Profit Management.

Global Food Festival
On Thursday, April 12, the Owen lobby played host to a global culinary competition. From Andorra to Taiwan and Lithuania to Japan, students showcased their cooking skills to represent a region in hopes of winning the 2012 Global Food Fest title. Twelve teams entered, but only China and India were left standing to take home the top honors. Owen students and staff left full and happy after one of the marquee events of the year.

In the past two years, Owen Graduate School of Management has increased support for its foreign-student job seekers, including hiring a dedicated career-services staffer for the international contingent; scheduling “how I did it” presentations by international students who successfully secured jobs in the U.S.; organizing job-hunt trips to Asia; and offering webinars to address cultural gaps and identify companies that are more open to sponsorship.
