James 'Jim' McElroy

Professor McElroy is presently a member of the Cumberland Law Group, LLPC focusing on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, start-up and development stage companies, technology, and real estate. He has organized and is on-going representation of group of affiliated start-up companies in business of building and operating college dormitories, including acquisition (ground lease structure), contracting and financing. He is also a representative of the developer of 80+ acre tract in Williamson County, being developed as luxury home subdivision. He formerly had a solo law practice focusing on corporate law.
He was active in the Governor's Task Force on Biotechnology in Tennessee and Incorporator, Director, President (2002-2003), Chairman (April 2003-November 2004) and member of Executive Committee of The Tennessee Biotechnology Association (not-for-profit trade association)
Not only does Professor McElroy have a Ph.D. from SYNY but received his J.D., Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School in 1980. He joined the Owen School faculty in 2011 teaching Law and Business.
