Invest in Owen

To our valued alumni and friends,

The last few years have brought about dramatic change in the world of business. We have been forced to reexamine our current practices and ways of thinking. I believe Owen has responded to these challenging times with a renewed sense of purpose. We are simply committed to educating the strongest possible class of business leaders. Our goal is to teach and mentor dynamic individuals Dean Jim Bradfordwho can guide industries with talent, knowledge and heart. However, we can reach this goal only with the help of every member of the Owen community. All of us—alumni, faculty, donors, students, friends of Vanderbilt—will have to roll up our sleeves and take part. I am asking you to work with me as we shape the next generation of business leaders.

Annual Giving

Did you know that much of your Owen experience was made possible by alumni and friends who invested in your future through their donations?

Tuition contributes just over half of Owen’s operations budget each year; income from endowment and gifts must provide the rest. We rely on annual gifts from alumni and friends as a dependable source of support.

Why is it important to make an annual gift to Owen?

  • Your annual, unrestricted gifts to Owen through the Vanderbilt Fund go to work immediately to meet Owen’s most important needs. They help bridge the gap between tuition revenues and the full cost of an Owen education.
  • Annual gifts provide Dean Bradford critical flexibility so that he can allocate funds where the need is greatest or when special opportunities arise.
  • Your annual gift is an ongoing vote of support for Owen and serves as an endorsement for the school, bolstering the strength and quality of your degree.
  • Your support benefits today’s students and enhances the value of your degree by building on the overall quality of an Owen education.

Your Gifts at Work

Gifts to the Vanderbilt Fund support the areas of greatest need at Owen, primarily:

Financial aid and student support

Affords Owen the capability to attract the best and brightest; the ability to offer scholarships is critical to the school’s success.

Faculty
Enables Owen to recruit and retain world-class faculty and funds research, professional development and exceptional teaching both inside and outside the classroom.

Student programs
Makes possible programs such as Accelerator (Vanderbilt’s Summer Business Institute), Leadership Development Program, new master’s programs—Master of Science in Finance (MSF) and Master of Accountancy (MAcc)—as well as ongoing projects like job placement services through the Career Management Center and immersion learning trips throughout the Owen experience.

You can support these initiatives by making an annual gift to the Vanderbilt Fund. Leadership gifts to the Vanderbilt Fund will be recognized through membership in the Owen Circle, the school’s donor recognition society.
