Vanderbilt’s accounting courses help students understand and assess how well a company’s accounting performance reflects economic reality. Our courses turn students into sophisticated interpreters of accounting information who know the functions, limitations, and challenges of financial accounting and can understand and evaluate financial accounting reporting practices. Students who complete our courses understand the role of financial reporting in the capital markets and appreciate its importance as a tool for business managers.
Owen’s accounting faculty members are actively involved in accounting and auditing research. Accounting faculty members serve on the editorial boards of leading accounting research journals and are often cited in leading business media like the Wall Street Journal.
