Deferred Admission
As a rule, the Vanderbilt MBA program does not offer deferred admission. In certain rare situations, such as an unexpected serious medical condition or family emergency, we will consider the situation carefully and do the right thing.
A promotion at work, desire to gain more experience, lack of funding, inability to complete the admission requirements, and other factors beyond our control are not sufficient conditions for deferral. A candidate who is unable to enroll in a given year and has not been granted a deferral must decline his or her offer of admission and reapply at a later date.
Reapplication
We retain all admissions materials for two years before destroying them. After that time, you must submit an entirely new application, including official test scores and transcripts.
Candidates who wish to reapply within two academic years must submit a cover letter requesting reactivation of their file, an updated résumé with current contact and employment information, a statement explaining how their experiences and plans have changed since the original date of application, and a $100 reapplication fee. International students must also submit a new Preliminary Financial Declaration form.
Applicants who were previously denied should also submit additional materials that might enhance their application (improved test scores, new recommendations, revised essays, etc.) and explain why their qualifications are stronger now than they were at the original date of application. They may also be required to interview again.
Candidates who are reapplying should do so by January 7 of the year they plan to enroll. Previous offers of admission or financial aid are not guaranteed for a future year.
