Before starting at Owen, Stephen worked in banking for four years, most recently in Atlanta with Regions Capital Markets in their syndicated debt division. With the real estate team there, Stephen was involved in the structuring, origination, distribution of about $2 billion of syndicated real estate loans per year. Stephen is currently interning with Boyle Investment Company in Nashville.
Stephen graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in Mathematical Economics, and is a native of Hammond, Louisiana.

Gavin McDowell - Vice President of Internal Affairs

Prior to attending Owen, Gavin worked as an investment broker at Marcus & Millichap. While at Marcus and Millichap, Gavin was responsible for sourcing new clients, underwriting, and marketing investment opportunities. Prior to his work at Marcus & Millichap, Gavin worked as a Senior Analyst at Cushman & Wakefield. His work was primarily as a consultant for the firm’s larger clients handling property and geographic relocation, best usage studies, and strategic development studies. Gavin spent his summer interning for the Milestone Group in Dallas. The Milestone Group owns and manages over 40,000 residential units across the U.S.
Gavin graduated from Claremont McKenna College in Southern California and is a native of San Francisco, CA.
Peter Kleinberg - Vice President of External Relations / Treasury

Prior to Owen, Peter was a Senior Financial Analyst and Senior Asset Manager at MKA Capital Group Advisors in Newport Beach, CA. At MKA, Peter was responsible for the underwriting of nearly $30M of equity investments and mezzanine debt, as well as the management of nearly $200M in real property assets ranging from un-entitled land to multi-family housing. In addition to active asset management, Peter was responsible for the generation of pro forma cash flows, the authoring of deal memorandums, and the monitoring of project budgets. Prior to working at MKA, Peter was with ANI Development in San Diego, CA working as an Acquisition and Development Associate. Peter worked for private merchant banking firm 2nd Generation Capital as a Summer Associate in the summer of 2009.
Peter received a B.A. from the University of Colorado – Boulder.

Russell Autry- Vice Presidents of Programs

Russell Autry comes to Owen via Raleigh, NC. After graduating from UNC Wilmington in 2004, Russell worked for Pharmaceutical Product Development, a clinical research organization, managing a portfolio of clinical trials. He became interested in real estate from helping his family with their residential investment business.
Russell is pursuing both real estate and finance concentrations at Owen. His future career interests are in real estate development and acquisition in the Southeast. Currently Russell is interning at a firm in Brentwood, TN assisting the private client and institutional investment sales group. Russell’s interests include Tar Heel basketball, boating and golf.

James Ward – 1st Year Officer

Before starting at Owen, Jim was a Senior Financial Analyst at Fannie Mae in Washington, DC. At Fannie Mae, Jim was responsible for the calculation of the allowance for loan losses and reserve for guaranty liabilities. In addition to his allowance duties, Jim was also responsible for forecasting the provision and expenses associated with purchasing loans from Fannie Mae securities. Prior to Fannie Mae, Jim worked as a Financial Analyst at a law firm specializing as underwriter’s counsel for tax-exempt multifamily housing bond issuances.
Jim is originally from Nashville and graduated with a BA from Princeton University.

Justin Albright – 1st Year Officer

Prior to attending Owen, Justin was a Senior Analyst for Allegiance Realty Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina. At Allegiance, he developed extensive institutional grade underwriting experience involving proforma creation, debt modeling, market research, and investment analysis both at the asset management and acquisition level. He was directly responsible for new acquisition identification, personally sourcing one-third of the closed acquisitions during his tenure. In additional, Justin led the acquisition transactional process involving the coordination and management of due diligence efforts for over $115 million of assets.
Justin graduated from Furman University with a degree in Political Science. He is a native of Nashville, Tennessee.

Tim Kilroy – 1st Year Officer

Prior to Owen, Timothy worked in Boston as an acquisitions associate for STAG Capital Partners, a private equity real estate fund specializing in single tenant properties throughout the United States. As part of the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic acquisitions team, Timothy was responsible for deal sourcing, market research, financial modeling, and due diligence for prospective acquisitions.
Timothy graduated from Bentley College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, and is a native of Boston, Massachusetts.
